Which Version of Windows 10 Should You Go For Upgrade?

There are seven different versions of Windows 10 :
That's a pretty intimidating number of options, until you take into account that only three of those versions -- Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Pro, and Windows 10 Mobile -- are available to normal consumers. The other four, Windows 10 Enterprise, Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise, Windows 10 Education, and Windows 10 IoT Core, are available only to volume licensing clients, schools, and intrepid startups.
Still, three different consumer-oriented versions of Microsoft's latest operating system means you'll need to make a choice. Here are your options:
Below Given the path to upgrade from your currently running Windows OS version:
Which Version of Window 10 Should You Get?
Enterprise, as the name suggests, will be offered to larger organizations in volume licensing, and will be deployed and managed by the company's IT departments. Windows 10 IoT Core will be the embedded version of the new Microsoft OS that will be built into circuit boards on wearables, small sensors, and equipment like vending machines. There's also a version of Windows 10 IoT Core for hobbyists working with the Raspberry Pi and Arduino robots. There are actually four sub-flavors of Windows 10 IoT: Standard, Mobile, Compact, and Micro; but again, most consumers don't need to concern themselves about these.

A First Look at Microsoft's Windows 10

SAN FRANCISCO—Microsoft introduced Windows 10 here on Tuesday as the successor to Windows 8, with an emphasis on going back to basics.
Terry Myerson and Windows 10
The operating system formerly code named Threshold is still in its very early stages, but Redmond has built enough new features into its prototype all-devices software platform to generate some buzz. Those include a revamped Start menu, some smooth new multi-tasking tools, and better modern app display parameters for full-screen PCs. From a technical perspective, the most interesting addition is probably virtual desktops, which let you run independent, partitioned desktops at the same time—to keep business separate from pleasure, for example.

Top 10 PHP Tips For Software Developers

I got a chance to tool around a bit with Windows 10 at Microsoft's small press gathering here, and also got some eyes-on demos from Microsoft reps. I'll give you my impressions in a second, but first, a quick rundown on what Windows 10 is and what it isn't.
The Beginning of the Beginning
The important thing to know is that this isn't a finished operating system. Windows 10 in its current incarnation isn't even the beginning of the end of the beginning of what we'll eventually load onto our PCs, tablets, and other devices sometime in mid-2015.
Microsoft is releasing what it calls a technical preview build on Wednesday. That barebones version of what will eventually become Windows 10 will be available to the public for download at preview.windows.com.
The idea here is to get Windows users—and crucially for Redmond at this stage, its enterprise customers—to test out the new software and tick off boxes for what they like and don't like about it. One Microsoft rep told me it would be the "biggest experiment ever" in crowd-sourcing an OS build, which ... well, let's just say it'd be fun to hear Linus Torvalds's response to that claim.
At any rate, this process will be a new experience for Microsoft. And the software giant is betting big on Windows 10 as the first major iteration of its "One Microsoft" initiative to produce a single OS that works across all devices, first championed last year by former CEO Steve Ballmer.
So Windows 10 will be the software platform for not just PCs and tablets, but also for smartphones, wearables, IoT devices, entertainment consoles, and embedded systems. To be clear, that doesn't mean there will be one vanilla flavor of Windows 10 that works across all those different devices, but that the basic platform will be relatively easy to tweak to create different versions that do.
Windows 10 will be "one product family, with a tailored experience for each device," Terry Myerson, executive vice president of Microsoft's Operating Systems group (pictured above) wrote in a blog post.
Old Is the New Windows
For now, the flavor we have to play around with is Windows 10 for the PC, and specifically a version that's aimed at Microsoft's enterprise customers. According to many early returns, including those of my colleague Matthew Murray and Microsoft partner Todd Swank of Equus Computer Systems, the promise of a return to the traditional Windows UI is the big news here.
I'm in that camp as well. As I messed around with the early Windows 10 build, the refurbished Start menu was like having an old friend back on the screen, though I also appreciated the way the Live Tile experience was still easily accessible, and how app browsing and launching can now be conducted with a more traditional Windows feel.

Windows 9 arriving next year

I will be the first to admit that I would be pretty surprised if the above were to be true, that Microsoft Windows 9 will hit the markets sometime next November. It just feels too soon, and do we really need a next generation desktop operating system even before the entire world has made Windows 8 as their operating system of choice for millions of computers worldwide? One thing’s for sure though, you can bet your bottom dollar that Microsoft is definitely working on a next generation of their desktop operating system, but what they have decided to call it, and when will it roll out to the masses, remain to be seen. It would be a waste of time, too, to speculate on such details.
Win8China, a site that has provided a bunch of Windows leaks in the past which were hits (as well as misses), claimed that the software giant is working on Windows 9 for a tentative November 2014 product launch, and it would be as early as next January where we will be able to check out a beta. This, however, does jive with whispers on the street that Windows would get a yearly operating system update, and Windows Blue being touted to be a Windows 8 update later this year, so what’s stopping Windows 9 from a November 2014 release? All in all, we will be on our toes to make sure that when Windows 9 arrives, we will report it. - See more at: http://cyber-worldd.blogspot.in/2013/03/windows-9-arriving-next-year.html#sthash.t1RcICX3.dpuf

Top 10 PHP Tips For Software Developers

PHP is a server-side scripting language designed for web development but also used as a general-purpose programming language. PHP is now installed on more than 244 million websites and 2.1 million web servers. Hence, it becomes all the more important to master this language. Here are ten tips that programmers must keep in mind before they begin programming in PHP:

Use OOP– As stated on htmlgoodies.com, Object Oriented Programming or OOP is a method of programming that uses classes or objects connecting things together, removing the requirement of repetition of codes and making the basic tasks of production quite simple. Objects are primarily classes that gather a group of functions into one and cover them in a wrapper which can be reused time and time again eliminating the need to rewrite functionality or procedures each time you need to do something.

Keep off from anything ending with _once()– As programmers, it is well known that include() gives a warning if it fails, whereas require() kills the script with a fatal error whenever it fails. Using include_once() and require_once() is too overbearing on server resources. Nothing can be done about this and this is how PHP is set up. Always keep in mind that using these terms will kill your server resources especially on a huge framework. Planning your codes properly will help you to do away with it.

Work with error reporting on- You must ensure to turn the error reporting to E_ALL before commencing any new project. This must be switched off just 10 seconds before going into production mode. It will prevent any error from occurring during the running of the project.

Utilise a Framework If Need Be– Using Frameworks which aid in doing difficult things can assist but you should learn the functioning of the frameworks to begin with to make things simple. It also decreases your chances of writing a bad code when someone has already done most of it for you.

Utilise PHP's Inbuilt Functions– Use the built in PHP function count(), for all your counting requirements. PHP comes with many built-in functions assisting the user in every way it can. So ensure that you have read the manual to ensure you are doing it in the best way possible.

Keep your Database Protected- The ideal way is to use mysql_real_escape_string() for all database before adding it to the database. This function protects all strings in terms of quotes and other functions that could affect your database or has a malicious code. Ensure to make use of this as the first step towards protecting your data.

Don’t Use GET Use POST– POST is safer especially when using form submission. GET is simple to emulate as all one needs to do is add something to their address bar and they can hack the project.

Draw Before You Code- It is a good idea to think out the mechanics of your application before starting on coding as it will help in removing the difficulties in your head and avoid the major headache that comes with the facepalm that makes you realize that all you have done is either wrong or simply silly.

Know Your Project– Make an effort to understand what you plan to do with your project before sitting down to code it. Not understanding your project will only prevent you from building it.

Code Code Code– There is only one way that you can become a good developer that is by coding again and again. Code real things that interest you and not something that is of no use. Make what interests you, it will help you to learn.

Personalize the Start screen

Start is the heart of your PC, and you can customize it so it’s just the way you want it. You can pin your most used and loved apps, websites, friends, files, and folders to your Start screen, so you can get to them quickly. If you’ve used previous versions of Windows, think of the Start screen like your old Start menu, but the Start screen shows you a lot more.
Some of the tiles on your Start screen will update automatically, so you can see things like the weather and status updates from your friends at a glance. You don't have to open the apps to get the information you're looking for.

Move tiles around

You can arrange the tiles on your Start screen in whatever way makes the most sense to you—put similar tiles together, group all your favorites, or create a "work" group for the apps you use for work. To move a tile, drag it up or down, and then drag it wherever you want.

Create a new group of tiles

You can create a new group of tiles by dragging one tile to an open space. When a gray bar appears, release the tile—this will create a new group, and you can drag more tiles to it.
After you’ve grouped your tiles together, you can name the group. Here's how:
  1. Touch the Start screen with two or more fingers, and then pinch them toward each other to zoom out.
(Or, if you’re using a mouse, click zoom Zoom icon in the lower-right corner of Start in the lower-right corner of your screen.)
  2. Swipe down on or right-click a group of tiles to select it, and then tap or click Name group.

Resize a tile

You can make tiles larger or smaller. To do this, swipe down on or right-click the tile to select it, and then tap or click Larger orSmaller. (Note that some tiles can’t be resized.)

Remove a tile

How to remove a tile
To remove a tile from the Start screen, swipe down on or right-click the tile to select it, and then tap or click Unpin from Start. (The app will still be available when you search, and you can re-pin it later if you decide you want it back on your Start screen.)
To uninstall an app and remove it from your PC, select the tile, and then tap or click Uninstall. It will no longer be available when you search, and you’ll have to reinstall the app if you want to get it back. Some apps can't be uninstalled.

Change the Start screen colors

You can change the background and color of your Start screen. The background only appears on Start, but the color you pick appears in a few other places, too—like the charms and the sign-in screen.
Here's how:
  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)
  2. Tap or click Personalize, and then tap or click Start screen.
  3. Choose the color and background combination you like best.
How to personalize the Start screen
You can see the changes immediately, so you can play around with backgrounds and colors as much as you want before settling on one.

Change your lock screen

You can also personalize your lock screen with a favorite photo. Here's how:
  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)
  2. Tap or click Personalize, and then tap or click Lock screen.
  3. Choose an existing picture, or tap or click Browse to search for a picture on your PC.
You can also add apps to your lock screen to get updates when your PC is locked. For example, you can add the Calendar app so you'll be able to see at a glance if you have an appointment coming up, or add the Mail app to see if you have a new message.
