Steps to Start your Own Franchisor – Franchisee Business Model:

You are running a successful business, you have more than 3 years of experience in running it. You have several people enquiring if you had a branch locally, in the different neighbourhood or different city.
Maybe its about time to that you consider franchising as an expansion strategy. Several entrepreneurs thought they had a product or a service that had a universal appeal and ended up creating Subway, Dairy Queen, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Aptech, Spykar and Kidzee. Their are no particular restrictions to franchising, in terms of what businesses can be franchised or not. Technically speaking, every business under the sun can be franchised, right from automotive care to apparel retailing, from preschool education to pet care.
Unless you are running a super niche, individual personality dependent business for example, a cardiac care institute or so, you could look at franchising your business to expand your capabilities.
Over the last nine years, we have seen several businesses that seem unusual at first successfully developing into much larger scaled up business. Back in 2002, Jumbo King Foods, a Mumbai based company launched a vada pav (Most Popular roadside Snack in Mumbai, comprising of a spicy potato filling) booth outside railway stations, few would have known that this would turn out to be a multi crore business with more than 40 Plus Locations across Mumbai.
So, what does it take for you to start your Start your Own Franchisor – Franchisee Business Model, here is a ready checklist for you to consider:
Brand Name and Identity: Create a peppy look for your brand, staff and retail stores. The identity should be contemporary and have a universal appeal or atleast to your respective targetted age groups. If you believe your brand is already the way it needs to be, get an opinion from some of your customers, or supplier and re-validate it.
Training Programs: Franchising is synonymous with uniform identity and service, this can only be achieved with a robust training program. As a business owner you would take several routine practices to be standard but you would need to specifically pen it down and ensure how you would explain your business to a complete new bee.
There would need to be different training programs for the store manager versus a retail store assistant with different responsibilities. As an entrepreneur you must systematize the whole learning process. A good starting point is to start noting your day-to-day schedule, how do you interact with customers, how do you deal with arrogant staff and so on.
Build a team: Franchising is a game of cricket and not a game of chess. Franchising is all about team spirit. How rapidly you would grow, expand and prosper, depends on the team that you have. If you are a startup franchisor, do not worry, you can hire trainers, franchise professionals at a variable expense. Although for franchise sales, building an inhouse team is recommended. More on this in coming articles.
Advertising and Promotions: Don’t fret, if you cannot hire Mahendra Singh Dhoni like Siyarams has, or Kareena Kapoor like Gitanjali has. You can start off with promotions in a simple cost effective way. Leverage the power of social media, build a user friendly website and so on.
Potential Franchise Prospects: Any business that has been there for 2 to 3 years would have received atleast five to ten franchise enquiries, maintain a database and keep them posted about new developments with your company
Well, this is just a starting point, to launch your own franchise model you would need to conduct a feasibility test as well as create a financial structure as well. More on that, shortly.

Adding Google Images Search in a website:

Google offers you to add their search box directly into your website/blog using adsense search option and also pays you for the same but if you are running a website which is dedicated for images/wallpapers then you would be interested in adding a Google Images Search Box rather than a normal content search box which comes by default.
Google Images Search Logo
If you are making a search in Google search engine the URL would be like this :
http://www.google.com/search?q=india
Similarly if you are making a search in Google Images the search query page would be :
http://images.google.com/images?q=india
which clearly shows that the search result pages are very easy to understand and can be easily integrated into a search box.
Now the next option is to create a Search Box using basic html tricks and here is the code to get started :
<CENTER><TD>
<TABLE>
<FORM action=http://images.google.com/images?q=india>
<TBODY>
<TR>
<TD><INPUT size=30 name=search></TD>
<TD width=2></TD>
<TD><INPUT type=submit value=Google Images Search>
</TD></TR></FORM></TBODY></TABLE><BR></TD></CENTER>
The above code is very easy and pure html basics and you can change the Submit Value from ‘Google Images Search’ to any display key phrase which appears on the submit button.
The same above process can be tweaked a bit in order to add MSN.com Image Search, Yahoo.com Images Search and Live.com Images Search in your websites or blog.
Here are the codes for the search result pages which can be added to the Action URL :
http://search.live.com/images/results.aspx?q=India : Live.com Images Search
http://search.msn.com/images/results.aspx?q=India : MSN.com Images Search
http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images?p=India : yahoo.com Images Search
You can try the same with any other major search engines and iam sure you can easily create custom image search boxes for your websites easily.

Test how Mobile-Friendly is your Mobile Website?

mobile website
Google has launched a new initiative called Go Mo (short for Go Mobile) and the mission is to convince webmasters to create a mobile-friendly version of their website.
Sure, a desktop-optimized website should load just fine on a mobile screen but the user expectations are often different when they are viewing your site on a small screen and if you serve them that same heavy site, some of them may jump elsewhere.
Is your mobile website really mobile-friendly?
The GoMo project website also has something of utility for webmasters who already have a mobile website – the GoMo Meter.
This online tool will give you an idea of how your mobile site may actually look like on a smart phone, what is the average loading time and it also generates a detailed report on what you can do to make your mobile site even more mobile-friendly.
Here’s a sample PDF report generated for this site and it’s an extremely handy resource for further improving the experience. For instance, I learned that I need to place the search box at a more prominent location on the mobile site.
The GoMoMeter will test your mobile site against an Android phone but there are otheronline tools to help you test your website on a much wider range of mobile phones.

Get Your Free .in Domain and Hosting from Google

Google India, in partnership with ICICI Bank and HostGator (the web hosting company), has launched a new program called India Get Online where they make it easy for you to setup a website for your business for free.
As part of the deal, you get a free .in web domain (provided it is available) and free web hosting for one year. The .in domain will registered to you while Hostgator will manage the website hosting* though you can move the site to any other web host for free.
Such free offers are always a goldmine for spammers but Google India has made it mandatory for businesses to enter their Permanent Account Number (PAN) or Tax Deduction Account Number (TAN) at the time of registration. Since these numbers are unique for every individual / business, you can’t avail it more than once.
Your website will be integrated with Google Apps so you also get access to other Google products like Gmail, Google Analytics, Google Docs and more. You also get Google Adwords coupons worth INR 2.5k for free to help you advertise your website on Google and AdSense network sites.
[*] If you have purchased a web domain already, you can also use Google App Engine to host your website online for free.
You can visit vijashiviinternational.in or khoslaprinters.in to get an idea of how sites created with the “India Get Online” look like. There’s a set of readymade web templates, pick one that matches your business profile, you can customize the text and pictures of the pages and your site is good to go.
Google hasn’t exactly specified the amount that businesses will have to pay to renew their website registration and hosting after one year except saying that it will be a “discounted fee.”
Microsoft had a offered a similar service in India called Office Live for Small Businesses but they recently discontinued it in favor of Office 365 which is less about website hosting but more about running your business in the cloud.
